Island Dumpster

As we are all aware, there are times when the dumpster area is unsightly.  I understand we have issues with people outside the island dumping trash in our dumpsters.  The board is meeting on Jan 27th, and this topic is on the agenda.  In the meantime, there are items that we can do to minimize the situation:

  1.  HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE ONLY  Appliances, wood, metal, springs, renovation/remodel materials, etc. are not household garbage and are not allowed in our dumpsters.  The HOA, and therefore our community, must pay extra when these items are incorrectly placed in our dumpsters.
  2. CONTRACTOR TRASH No contractor trash is allowed.  This means all household garbage and renovation/remodel materials, etc.  Homeowners need to verify with all contractor/workers to be sure that they understand this.  Not long ago, a contractor put about 5 bags of garbage in the dumpster that he had been saving in back of his truck.
  3. IF DUMPSTERS ARE FULL Do not put bags on top of the dumpsters.  There are not a lot of people that live on the island.  If you are a non-permanent resident and dumpsters are full, please bring your trash home.  Don’t throw it on the ground or on top of the dumpsters.
  4. CRUSH BOXES – As Les has pointed out many times, we need to crush boxes before they are placed in our dumpsters.  Uncrushed boxes can take up a lot of space.
  5. IF YOU SEE A VIOLATION OCCURING – If you feel comfortable, please ask the person to stop and explain our dumpster rules.  If not, please take a picture and email 3rihoa@gmail.com explaining the situation.  The HOA board will take it from there.
  6. NON-PAYMENT OF HOA DUES – If you are one of the few that are delinquent on HOA dues, please stop using the dumpster.  HOA dues are used to pay for the dumpster, and you are not entitled to use the dumpster just because you live on the island.

Thanks for your help in this matter.
